Why does obtaining top-tier certifications not guarantee an immediate job in the US market?

Additionally, high interest rates have made companies more cautious and methodical in their hiring. They aren't just looking for someone who knows the theory; they want specialists who can immediately impact productivity and manage cross-functional teams in a hybrid work environment.

• You’re onto something, Jeffrey. In Project Management, a certification tells me you can pass a test, but a portfolio tells me you can handle a budget crisis or a stakeholder conflict. Most US recruiters in 2024 are using advanced filtering, and if they don't see specific "outcome-based" language in your history, the certification alone won't get you past the initial screening phase.

It’s definitely about the experience gap. Many firms are now looking for "T-shaped" professionals who have the cert but also deep niche knowledge in a specific industry.

• I agree with Melissa. Having a Project Management cert is great, but combining it with a background in healthcare or construction is what actually makes you stand out in this economy.
