Everything You Need to Know About Certified Scrum Master Certification

Transitioning from Project Management to Team Leadership The csm certification is more than just a piece of paper; it represents your move from simply managing projects to leading empowered teams. Many professionals find themselves trapped in the middle, where developers are frustrated by vague requirements and stakeholders are upset by missed milestones. You may be labeled a "Project Manager," but often your day consists of chasing status updates and delivering bad news while maintaining outdated charts. In contrast, Agile teams are successfully delivering products and pivoting quickly when changes occur. Their ScrumMasters are valued as strategic coaches and facilitators, often commanding higher salaries because they build environments where real work gets done. Traditional credentials like PMP might be ignored for roles specifically seeking a certified scrummaster. Our scrum master course is built to change your career trajectory immediately. This is not a boring lecture about the Agile Manifesto. Our csm training is a deep, two-day workshop led by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer who has experience scaling Agile in startups and global corporations. These experts teach the Scrum framework as a functional tool for fixing team issues. While other programs focus only on passing a test, we focus on creating genuine Agile leaders. During the workshop, you will learn to: Facilitate Sprint Planning sessions that result in realistic forecasts rather than impossible promises. Run a Daily Scrum as a quick, 15-minute synchronization rather than a long status meeting for management. Identify and remove the organizational hurdles that stop your team from moving forward. Guide retrospectives that lead to actual improvement instead of just blaming others. This intensive bootcamp is designed for busy people, offered in a fully interactive live format with group activities and Q&A. Enrollment includes the csm exam fee, your membership, and 16 PDUs/SEUs to help launch you into the global Agile community.

Certified Scrum Master Certification Training – Complete FAQ Guide

  • What are the mandatory conditions for csm certification?
The only non-negotiable requirement is completing a 16-hour live course led by a CST. No specific degree or prior experience is needed.

  • What is the fee for the CSM examination?
The cost is included in your course fee. This covers your first two attempts at the test.

  • How many questions are on the exam and what is the passing score?
There are 50 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 60 minutes. You need to get 37 right (74%) to pass.

  • Which organization grants the certification?
The credential is awarded by the Scrum Alliance, the largest professional body for Agile practitioners.

  • Can I self-study and take the exam without a course?
No. The Scrum Alliance requires a live 16-hour course with a CST as a prerequisite.

  • What happens if I do not pass the exam?
Your first attempt is included, and a second attempt is free if taken within 90 days. Our students have a 99% pass rate.

  • How long is the certification valid and how do I renew it?
It is valid for two years. To renew, you pay $100 and submit 20 Scrum Education Units (SEUs).

  • What is the difference between CSM and PSM?
CSM (Scrum Alliance) requires a course with a CST for interactive learning. PSM (Scrum.org) allows you to take the exam without a course. Employers often prefer CSM due to the formal training.

  • Where do I take the exam?
It is an online, open-book test. You will receive a link from the Scrum Alliance after finishing the course.

  • How soon must I take the exam after the training?
You have 90 days, but we recommend taking it within one week while the material is fresh.

  • Is the Scrum Alliance membership included?
Yes, passing the exam grants you an automatic two-year membership with access to resources and a global network.

  • What are Scrum Education Units (SEUs)?
These are points earned by learning more about Scrum (reading, webinars, etc.). One hour usually equals one SEU. You need 20 every two years for renewal.

  • Does this course cover Agile or just Scrum?
While the focus is Scrum, we deeply cover the Agile Manifesto and the mindset required for Scrum to work.

  • Can non-technical people become Scrum Masters?
Yes. The role focuses on coaching and facilitation, not technical tasks. Many come from HR, marketing, or project management.

  • Is the CSM credential globally recognized?
Yes, it is considered the gold standard and is often a mandatory requirement for Agile job postings.
