Everything You Need to Know About PMP Certification

The PMP credential serves as a vital requirement for anyone aiming to reach senior-level management. While you may already be handling complex tasks like managing stakeholder interests, controlling project scope, and fixing operational issues, you might still be labeled as a "Team Lead" or "Coordinator." By contrast, professionals with a pmp certification are typically entrusted with official decision-making authority and their own budgets. On average, these certified individuals see salary increases of 25% to 40% because they know how to apply disciplined project frameworks. Without this online project manager certification, many HR software systems will automatically filter your resume out of the candidate pool. This specific pmp exam prep training is not a simple memorization exercise for the PMBOK® Guide. Our curriculum was built by veteran Project Managers who have led initiatives in high-stakes fields like construction, IT, and heavy manufacturing. They understand how to handle unengaged sponsors and rigid deadlines. You will learn the core PMP framework and how to adapt when project conditions become unstable. We focus on genuine leadership rather than being a "certification mill." You will practice creating project charters that win executive support, building Work Breakdown Structures to capture all requirements, and managing risks before they turn into crises. The exam is just the final validation; the real value is your ability to lead high-pressure meetings and provide data-driven reports with total confidence.

PMP Certification Training—Complete FAQ Guide

  • What are the specific requirements to apply for the PMP?
You are required to have 35 hours of formal project management education, which our program provides. Additionally, if you have a Bachelor's degree, you need 4,500 hours of project leadership. If you have a high school diploma, you need 7,500 hours of leadership experience.

  • How much does it cost to take the exam?
The test fee is $555 for those who are not PMI members. If you are a member, the price drops to $405. Since membership is only $139, it is cheaper to join PMI first before paying for your exam.

  • What is the format and duration of the test?
The exam is a 230-minute test consisting of 180 questions. It requires significant mental focus. Our simulators are designed to help you build the endurance needed for this timeframe.

  • What is the passing score for the PMP?
PMI uses performance levels like "Above Target" rather than a specific number. Generally, you should aim to get at least 70% of questions right. Our goal is to prepare you for the "Above Target" level.

  • Can I take the test at home or do I need to go to a center?
Both options exist. However, the online version is very strict regarding your environment and internet. We usually suggest going to a Pearson VUE testing center to avoid any technical problems.

  • What happens if I don't pass on my first try?
Don't worry; we provide extra coaching and continued access to our simulators at no extra cost until you pass. Our program is designed to ensure you succeed.

  • How long does the certification stay active?
The PMP is valid for three years. You must earn 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) during that time to renew it.

  • What resources should I use to study?
PMI suggests the PMBOK® Guide and the Agile Practice Guide. Our program simplifies these by combining all the necessary info into one easy-to-follow study plan.

  • How do I record my project hours correctly?
This is often the hardest part of the application. You must use specific PMI language. We provide full support to make sure your application is written correctly to avoid being rejected.

  • Is a calculator allowed during the test?
You cannot bring your own, but there is a built-in calculator in the testing software. Our simulators include the same tool so you can practice using it.

  • What are the main topics on the exam?
The test covers three domains: People (42%), Process (50%), and Business Environment (8%). Our lessons are weighted to match these percentages.

  • How quickly can I schedule my test after being approved?
You can schedule it immediately and have one year to take it. We recommend booking it for 3 to 4 weeks after your training ends.

  • Do I have to keep my PMI membership to stay certified?
No, but it saves you money on the renewal fee ($60 for members vs. $150 for non-members).

  • What kind of activities count for renewal credits?
You need 60 PDUs, with at least 35 coming from education. These must follow the PMI Talent Triangle®, covering Technical, Leadership, and Strategic skills.

  • Does being a PMP help me get other certifications?
It doesn't grant any waivers. You still have to meet the specific requirements for other credentials like the PMI-RMP® or PgMP®.
