Can AI tools like ChatGPT help in creating a more accurate SWOT analysis?
I'm a Digital Marketing specialist and I want to use AI to speed up our competitor research. Can I rely on AI to identify "Threats" and "Opportunities" in a niche market, or is the data too generalized for a professional-grade SWOT analysis in 2024?

All answers to this question.
AI is great for the "Threats" section because it can monitor news and regulatory changes much faster than any human could.

True, Betty. AI-driven trend alerts are a total "Strength" for modern digital marketing teams trying to stay ahead of the curve.

Does using AI for SWOT analysis risk leaking proprietary "Strengths" and "Weaknesses" to the public AI models?

Daniel, that's a massive concern. Always use an enterprise version of AI tools that doesn't use your data for training. Never paste sensitive financial data or unannounced product roadmaps into a public prompt. Security-conscious BAs usually use local LLMs or heavily redacted versions of their internal reports for this.

AI is an incredible research assistant but a poor strategist. You can use it to scrape public data and summarize competitor reviews to find "Weaknesses" in their products. However, the "Opportunities" section requires a human understanding of your specific brand's unique value proposition. In late 2023, I used AI to analyze 500 customer complaints of a rival brand to find "Opportunities" for our own feature roadmap. It saved me weeks of manual work, but I still had to filter out the hallucinations and verify the facts before presenting to the board.
