What is the best way to switch into a tech career in marketing?
I've been a traditional print marketer for a decade. What is the best way to switch into a tech career while staying in my field? I want to master including SEO and PPC but I don't know where to start. Is it better to take a comprehensive bootcamp or just learn individual tools like Google Analytics and HubSpot on my own?

All answers to this question.
Traditional marketing principles still apply, but the medium has changed entirely. The most efficient way to pivot is by getting certified in Google Ads and Analytics first. These are the core pillars of that every tech company requires. Instead of a broad bootcamp, I suggest building your own niche blog and ranking it for a specific keyword. This hands-on experience with Search Engine Optimization proves to employers that you can actually drive traffic, which is far more valuable than just having a certificate on your resume.

Self-study is great, but a structured bootcamp can provide the networking you need to get that first job. Do you have a budget set aside for paid advertising experiments?

Ronald, a budget for experiments is a smart suggestion. Even spending $50 on a small Facebook or Google ad campaign gives you data to analyze in an interview. It shows you aren't afraid of the "technical" side of the budget and that you understand ROI in a digital context. Most traditional marketers struggle with the data-heavy side of the business, so proving you can handle it is key.

Absolutely, SEO is the most "tech-heavy" part of marketing. If you can handle site audits and technical SEO, you’ve basically made the switch into a tech career already.
