• Donna is right. If your organization is already on the Microsoft 365 stack, using their native tools makes the compliance audit much simpler for the IT department.

When you're dealing with PHI (Protected Health Information), you can't just pick any SaaS tool. You need to look at the Enterprise tiers of Smartsheet or Monday.com, as they specifically offer HIPAA compliance and will sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA). Another strong contender is Adobe Workfront, which is heavily used by large regulated enterprises. They provide granular permission controls, audit logs, and data encryption at rest and in transit. Always verify that the specific plan you are buying includes the compliance "shields" because the standard Pro plans usually do not.

• Daniel, self-hosting is a great way to maintain total control, but it adds a lot of IT overhead for patching and server maintenance. For a lot of firms, it’s actually safer to rely on a major vendor’s security team who lives and breathes SOC2 compliance. If we misconfigure our own server, we are the ones liable. If we use a shielded enterprise SaaS, we leverage their multi-million dollar security infrastructure.
