The breakthrough in 2024 has been the use of "World Models" that understand the physics of the manufacturing environment. By training a multimodal agent on normal operating conditions across sound, heat, and visuals, the AI becomes incredibly sensitive to deviations. Instead of just flagging a generic error, the agent can say, "The motor sound has increased by 10dB and the thermal signature is rising, suggesting a bearing failure in 48 hours." This level of reasoning is far beyond traditional RPA.

That’s our biggest fear. We’re looking into "Unsupervised Anomaly Detection" where the model doesn't need to know what a failure looks like; it just needs to know what "normal" looks like perfectly. If the multimodal input shifts away from the learned "normal" manifold, the agent triggers an emergency stop and alerts a human. Is this a standard practice in the industry?

It's mostly about the data quality. If your thermal cameras and microphones are properly calibrated, the AI is often more consistent than a human inspector who gets fatigued.

I agree, Margaret. Consistency is the main advantage here. An AI agent doesn't have an "off day" or lose focus after eight hours of monitoring a conveyor belt.
