How to build an influencer marketing strategy for a small business on a budget?
We want to start working with influencers but we don't have the budget for "Macro" influencers with millions of followers. Is "Micro-influencer" marketing actually effective for driving sales, or is it mostly just for brand awareness? How do you track the conversion of a creator's post to an actual sale in our Shopify store?

All answers to this question.
Micro-influencers (10k-50k followers) are actually much better for sales than celebrities. Their audience trusts them like a friend. To track sales, we use unique discount codes (e.g., LINDA20) and Shopify "Collabs" to track affiliate links. The key is to look at their "Engagement Rate" rather than just follower count. A creator with 15k followers and a 5% engagement rate will almost always outperform a celebrity with 1M followers and a 0.1% engagement rate.

Would you consider a long-term "Brand Ambassador" partnership instead of a one-off post to build more sustained trust with the influencer's community?

Thomas, that’s our current goal. One-off posts feel like ads, but when a customer sees an influencer using our product consistently over three months, it creates a much stronger "social proof" that leads to higher conversion rates.

Focus on "Nano-influencers" too! People with under 5k followers often have the highest trust levels and will often work in exchange for free products.

Dorothy is right. For a small business, getting 10 Nano-influencers to post at once creates a "buzz" effect that looks organic and authentic.
