• Sarah is absolutely right. We cut our sync time in half just by removing our "Retired Employees" and "Testing" OUs from the synchronization rules. It makes the whole hybrid environment much easier to audit.

The key is following the Purdue Model. You should never have a direct connection from the Enterprise Zone (Level 4/5) to the Cell/Area Zone (Level 0-2). We implemented an Industrial DMZ (Level 3.5) where all data exchange happens through jump servers and proxy services. This ensures that even if the IT network is compromised, the "blast radius" is contained before it hits the production floor. Safety always trumps data; if an analytics tool requires a configuration that risks a "Stop" command on a turbine, that tool simply doesn't get connected.

Don't forget the "People" aspect. We held weekly "cross-training" sessions where IT guys learned what a PLC does and OT guys learned basic networking. It broke down a lot of the initial trust barriers.

• Robert, we are still on the standard AD Connect. We looked into Cloud Sync, but it didn't seem to support some of our custom schema extensions for our legacy HR application. Have you found that the Cloud Sync agent handles large-scale attribute mapping better than the traditional engine? We are worried about the migration overhead if it doesn't solve the specific latency issues we are seeing during peak login hours.
