For "Externally Provided Processes," you need to show an evaluation of your cloud providers (AWS/Azure) and SaaS tools. During a virtual audit, be ready to share your screen and walk the auditor through the version history of a document or the approval flow of a pull request. Do you find it difficult to maintain "Internal Audit" objectivity when the auditors and the auditees are peers working together on the same remote projects every day?

• James, that is a significant challenge for remote culture. To solve this, we use a "Cross-Functional Peer Review" system. Instead of someone from the same squad auditing their own code, we have a PM from the 'Payments' squad audit the 'Onboarding' squad’s processes. This provides the necessary "objectivity and impartiality" required by Clause 9.2 of the ISO standard. It also helps spread best practices across the remote organization. We use a standardized Audit Template in Confluence so that every internal auditor follows the same rigors, regardless of their primary role in the company.

The "Management Review" is also harder remotely. We do it via recorded Zoom sessions and keep the transcript as the formal record of the meeting minutes for the auditor.

• Patricia is right. Transcripts are excellent evidence. Auditors love seeing that leadership is actually engaged in the QMS, and a video recording is indisputable proof of that engagement.
