Is a Master's degree still required to land a Senior Data Scientist role in the current market?

While the "Gold Standard" used to be a PhD, the industry has shifted significantly toward practical application. For a Senior role, hiring managers care more about your ability to deploy models into production and solve business problems than your thesis topic. If you can demonstrate that you understand the mathematical foundations—like linear algebra and statistics—and have a track record of delivering ROI, you can definitely land a Senior role. I’ve hired several seniors who were self-taught but had exceptional engineering skills that most academics lack.

Experience always wins. If you have 4 years of solid experience, you should focus on networking and getting referrals to bypass the automated ATS filters.
