How to improve Quality Score in Google Ads to lower my Cost Per Click?
My CPC has been skyrocketing lately, and I noticed my Quality Score is stuck at 4/10 for my primary keywords. I’ve checked my ad copy, but I’m still paying way more than my competitors. What are the most effective ways to raise this score quickly? Does landing page speed or the actual HTML structure of my site play a bigger role than the keywords themselves?

All answers to this question.
Quality Score is based on three things: Expected CTR, Ad Relevance, and Landing Page Experience. To raise it quickly, start with Ad Relevance by ensuring your keyword appears exactly in your Headline 1. Next, focus on the landing page. Google's crawler looks for the keyword in your H1 tag and the general "originality" of the content. If your page takes more than 3 seconds to load, your score will tank. I once saw a CPC drop by 40% just by moving a client to a faster host and adding more specific service descriptions that matched the ad groups perfectly.

Are you using Dynamic Search Ads to help find better keyword-to-landing-page matches, or are you manually building out every single ad group and extension?

Christopher, I’ve been doing everything manually. I thought that gave me the best control, but I’m realizing my manual ad groups might be too broad. I’m going to try "Single Keyword Ad Groups" or at least tighter themes. I'll also look into adding more Sitelink and Callout extensions, as I heard that having a high "Ad Strength" rating can indirectly help the expected CTR component of the Quality Score.

Don't ignore the "Below Average" labels in your dashboard. Google tells you exactly which of the three pillars is failing—fix the specific one identified rather than guessing.

Exactly. If it says "Landing Page Experience" is the issue, no amount of ad copy tweaking will fix your score. Focus your energy where the data tells you the leak is.
