This is what we call "Shadow AI," and it’s rampant in 2024. Strategically, you are in a "goldilocks" zone, but it’s risky. If you are doing this, you should be using those extra 6 hours to upskill, not just relax. The company will eventually figure out the efficiency gains—perhaps by noticing your logs or through a system audit. If you haven't used that time to become the "AI Implementation Specialist" for your team, you’ll be the first one cut when they realize the role only takes 2 hours. My advice: document your process and "sell" the automation to your boss as a new initiative you lead. It turns you from an "replaceable admin" into a "valuable innovator."

If you want to stay "safe," you need to ensure your automation is compliant. But beyond that, "hiding" your speed is a short-term game. In a high-inflation world, the only way to get real raises is to show that you are delivering massive, scalable value that the AI alone cannot provide without your specific guidance.

I did this for six months and then used the saved time to start my own side business. AI is the greatest tool for "freedom" if you use it correctly.
