How can B2B companies leverage video content beyond just YouTube tutorials?

We want to diversify our content mix by adding more video, but we aren't a lifestyle brand. For a B2B software company, what are some creative and effective ways to use video throughout the sales cycle that go beyond standard product demos or "how-to" guides?

All answers to this question.

B2B video is incredibly powerful for building trust. Consider "Expert Interview" series where your senior engineers or leaders discuss industry trends—this builds massive authority. Another high-impact format is "Customer Success Stories" that focus on the emotional relief of solving a business problem, rather than just the features. You can also use "Micro-Videos" for social media—60-second clips that highlight one specific insight from a longer whitepaper. Finally, personalized video messages in sales outreach (using tools like Vidyard) can significantly increase your response rates compared to cold emails alone.

Personalized sales videos are a game-changer, but how are you managing the production cost and time? Is it realistic to expect a busy sales rep to record a custom video for every lead, or are you using some kind of template or "modular" video approach to keep the workload manageable?

  • David, we use a modular approach. The rep records a 30-second personalized intro and then stitches it to a high-quality 2-minute product overview. It takes less than 5 minutes per lead, but the impact of seeing a real person's face and hearing their name mentioned makes the prospect feel much more valued than a standard template email.

We’ve had great success with "Behind the Scenes" videos showing our team in the office. It humanizes a "faceless" software brand and helps a lot with our recruitment efforts as well.

  • I agree, Karen. People buy from people, even in B2B. Showing that there are real, passionate humans behind the code makes a huge difference in the final decision-making process.
