How are senior managers planning for a reduced human headcount due to AI by 2025?
I’m hearing rumors of "Agentic AI" being used to replace entire middle-management layers. Are there any leaders here who can share the reality? Are you being told to plan for 20% fewer staff by 2025, or is the goal still to keep humans at the center of the workflow?

All answers to this question.
As a Director in tech, I can tell you the goal for 2025 is "Productivity Per Head." We aren't looking to slash 20% of staff; we are looking to achieve 50% more output with the same team. However, the nature of the "middle manager" is changing. They are becoming "Orchestrators." Instead of checking a junior's work, they are checking the AI's work. The risk is for managers who only act as information conduits. If your job is just passing data from one person to another, AI can do that better. Managers who provide mentorship and strategic vision are actually becoming more valuable because they keep the "human soul" in the product.

Do you find that the push for "efficiency" is leading to more burnout for the remaining humans who now have to manage a mountain of AI-generated content?

Kyle, that’s the silent crisis of 2024. People think AI makes work easier, but it often just increases the volume of what you have to review. We are seeing a new kind of "supervision fatigue." Companies that don't address this by 2025 will see their best talent leave for "Human-First" organizations. The challenge for leadership is balancing the speed of AI with the sustainable pace of human workers.

The hiring bar is just getting higher. We only hire seniors now because the "junior work" is being handled by our internal GPT models. It's a tough market for beginners.

This is exactly what I've seen in the creative agencies too, Monica. The "entry-level" role is effectively disappearing, which creates a huge problem for the future talent pipeline.
