With everyone worried about election integrity, I keep hearing that blockchain technology is the silver bullet. Can a decentralized system actually prevent tampering in large-scale public elections, or are the risks of private key loss and 51% attacks too high for a national government to consider?

This would provide a public, verifiable audit trail that anyone could check without compromising voter anonymity. However, the practical application of blockchain technology in voting faces a "human" problem. If a voter’s device is compromised by malware, the vote is stolen before it even hits the chain. Also, the 51% attack is a real concern for smaller, localized chains. While it offers more transparency than a closed-source black-box voting machine, we are still a few years away from a system that is robust enough for a presidential-level election.
