Which project management software is best for remote teams working across multiple time zones?

My team is spread across the US, Europe, and India. We are currently using a mix of Excel and email, but it is becoming a nightmare to track version history and task ownership. We need a tool that handles asynchronous communication well and provides a clear visual of the project pipeline. What are your top recommendations

All answers to this question.

For global teams, I highly recommend Asana or Monday.com. Both tools allow you to set "Work Hours" and time zones for individual members, which helps when assigning deadlines. Their visual boards (Kanban or Gantt) provide a "single source of truth" so nobody has to wait for a reply from someone sleeping on the other side of the world to know the status of a task. We found that integrating these with Slack for real-time updates and Notion for our documentation wiki created a seamless workflow that drastically reduced our internal email volume by about 60% within the first month.

Are you looking for a tool that focuses more on high-level portfolio management or something that is more granular for daily developer task tracking like Jira?

  • Jeffrey, we actually need a bit of both. We have marketing and dev teams, so something flexible is ideal. Jira is great for our devs, but the marketing team finds it a bit too technical. We are considering ClickUp because it seems to offer a middle ground with custom views that can satisfy both the creative and technical sides of our organization without needing three different subscriptions.

Trello is great if you want to keep it simple and visual. Its Power-Ups allow you to sync with calendars which is vital for managing those tricky international deadlines.

  • I second the Trello recommendation for simplicity. If your team is struggling with Excel, jumping into a complex tool might be too much. Trello's learning curve is very gentle.
