What is the best bidding strategy for a new Google Ads account with no data?
I just launched a B2B SaaS website and I'm starting my first Google Ads campaign. Should I start with "Maximize Conversions" right away, or should I use "Manual CPC" until I get some data in the system? I've heard that AI bidding doesn't work well without at least 15-30 conversions in the last 30 days, but I don't want to overpay for clicks manually.

All answers to this question.
For a brand new account, "Enhanced CPC" (ECPC) is usually the safest middle ground. It allows you to set a manual cap so you don't blow your budget, but gives Google's AI a little room to increase your bid if it thinks a click is likely to convert. I never recommend "Maximize Conversions" for a fresh account because the algorithm has no baseline for what a "converter" looks like for your specific business. You’ll end up spending your daily budget on low-quality traffic. Wait until you have at least 20-30 clean conversions, then switch to a smart bidding strategy like Target CPA.

Are you focusing on "Bottom of Funnel" high-intent keywords initially, or are you trying to capture broader "Top of Funnel" interest to build up your remarketing lists?

James, I’m sticking to high-intent "Buy" and "Software for" keywords for now. My plan is to use Manual CPC for the first month to see which keywords actually trigger the "Free Trial" signups. Once I have a solid list of winning keywords and some conversion history, I'll feel much more comfortable letting the automated bidding take the wheel to try and scale the volume while keeping my acquisition costs stable.

Be patient. The "Learning Phase" for automated bidding can take up to two weeks. If you switch too early, you'll just reset the algorithm and waste more money.

Good point, Lisa. Constant tweaking is the enemy of the Google Ads algorithm. Set it, watch it, but don't touch it for at least 7 to 10 days to see the real results.
