What are the must-have Data Engineering certifications for a high salary in 2024?
I have a background in SQL but I want to get a "big name" certification to boost my resume. Between the AWS Data Engineer Associate, the Google Professional Data Engineer, and the Databricks certifications, which one is seeing the most "pull" from recruiters right now? I want something that isn't just a paper certificate but actually helps me pass a technical interview.

All answers to this question.
If you want the most "versatile" pull, the AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate (which just launched recently) is huge because so many companies are already on AWS. However, if you want the "highest" salary, the Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional is the gold standard for high-end Lakehouse roles. In 2024, recruiters are looking for "Platform-Specific" depth. A general cloud cert is nice, but showing you can navigate the nuances of Delta Lake or Unity Catalog is what gets you into the $150k+ bracket. Don't just study for the test; build a portfolio project that implements the concepts in the exam guide.

Victoria, what about the Snowflake certifications? I see a lot of "SnowPro Core" requirements in job descriptions, but is it too niche compared to a broader cloud cert like AWS?

Marcus, Snowflake is anything but niche! It's the primary data warehouse for the Fortune 500. While AWS is broad, a Snowflake cert paired with dbt knowledge is probably the fastest path to an Analytics Engineer role right now. My advice? Get one "Broad" cert (AWS) and one "Specialized" cert (Snowflake or Databricks). That "T-shaped" skill set makes you a very safe bet for hiring managers because it proves you understand the plumbing (Cloud) and the kitchen (The Data Platform).

Don't forget the "Soft" skills! No cert will save you if you can't explain why you chose a specific partitioning strategy during the whiteboarding session.

Truth, Kelly. Certs get you the interview, but your ability to talk through "Failure Modes" and "Data Quality" is what gets you the offer.
