The trick with AutoGPT in Digital Marketing is to use "Agentic Workflows" where the goals are broken down into very small, bite-sized tasks before the agent starts. If you give it a broad goal like "Research Competitors," it will inevitably fail. We use a method where we first prompt the agent to "List the top 5 competitors," then "For each competitor, find their top 10 keywords." By forcing this hierarchy, you provide a level of structural control that a single long prompt can't achieve. How are you handling the hallucination of URLs? I’ve tried similar agents for marketing research and they often "invent" credible-looking links to articles that don't exist. Does your hierarchical approach actually stop the agent from making up data when it hits a paywall or a bot-blocker?

• Matthew, we solve that by giving the agent a specific "Verification" tool. After it finds a link, it has to run a separate command to 'check_link_status'. If the link returns a 404 or a block, the agent is programmed to discard it and look for another source. It increases the token cost, but it’s the only way to ensure the SEO reports we give to clients aren't full of fake data.

For Digital Marketing, I've found that simple Python scripts with the OpenAI API are still more reliable than AutoGPT's autonomous loop.
