Will Agentic AI tools like Horizon and MultiOn finally replace entry-level Project Coordinators?

I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about "Agentic AI" in 2026. Tools like Horizon are now supposedly able to attend meetings, assign tasks in Jira, and follow up on blockers without any human intervention. As someone looking to start a career in Project Management, is the role of a Junior Coordinator effectively dead? How much of the workflow is actually automated versus just hype?

All answers to this question.

While it’s true that Agentic AI has reached a point where it can handle the "grunt work" of status updates and scheduling, it lacks the emotional intelligence required for stakeholder management. I’ve been using these tools in my PMO office since late 2023, and while they save me roughly 15 hours a week, they can't navigate office politics or resolve a heated conflict between a developer and a client. The demand is shifting from "task trackers" to "strategic leaders." You need to focus on complex problem-solving and leadership skills that these bots simply cannot replicate yet.

Do you think the current AI models can actually understand the nuance of "priority" when a client changes their mind mid-sprint, or does it just follow the pre-set logic?

  • Great point, Bradley. Current tools still struggle with "context switching" based on human sentiment. They follow logic perfectly, but Project Management is often about breaking the rules to meet a deadline. An AI won't know when to ask for a budget extension based on a "gut feeling" about a vendor's reliability. That’s why human oversight remains the bottleneck for total automation.

AI is a tool, not a replacement. It handles the data so we can handle the people. Focus on your PMP certification and soft skills to stay ahead of the curve.

  • Exactly, Cynthia. I’ve found that using AI for documentation actually allows me to spend more time on team building and strategic alignment, which increases project success rates.
