Everything You Need to Know About Agile Certified Practitioner Certification

Your pmi acp is far more than just a piece of paper; it is the benchmark that distinguishes agile workers from agile authorities. You may currently be managing daily meetings, iterations, and review sessions, but many organizations fail to realize that these activities alone do not equal true organizational flexibility. While you may find it difficult to engage product owners, handle fixed requirements, or demonstrate concrete results, individuals who hold the Project Management Institute agile certified practitioner certification are being recruited for Scrum Master and Agile Coach positions with significantly better pay. Executive leadership often places higher trust in certified specialists than in those without credentials, and resumes lacking the pmi acp designation are frequently bypassed. This program is more than just a typical certification path. Our pmi acp course was crafted by established leaders who have led successful transformations in digital sectors, product creation, and IT services. The curriculum moves past rote memorization of rules to teach you the actual execution of efficient, flexible management strategies, even in settings that traditionally rely on waterfall methods. Unlike generic workshops that focus only on terminology, we prioritize the growth of leadership skills: facilitating reviews that spark real improvement, defining "Done" to prevent technical debt, and helping teams transition from predictive to adaptive workflows. While the exam validates your technical knowledge, the primary advantage is the ability to lead your teams with authority on complex, real-world assignments. Designed to accommodate busy professionals, we offer evening and weekend classes, live virtual instruction, and access to recordings for self-paced study. Participants also gain access to practical tools like product backlog and retrospective templates, real-world case studies, ongoing expert help, and meticulous guidance on the pmi acp application to prevent frequent filing errors.

Agile Certified Practitioner Certification Training – Complete FAQ Guide

  • What are the requirements to apply for the PMI-ACP?
You need three specific things: 21 hours of training (which we provide), 2,000 hours of general project experience from the last 5 years, and 1,500 hours of agile-specific experience from the last 3 years. Note that these hours cannot overlap; they must be distinct.

  • What is the price of the examination?
The cost is $435 for non-members and $335 for PMI members. Since membership is $139, joining first saves you $100 on the exam and reduces future renewal costs.

  • How is the exam structured?
It consists of 120 questions that you must finish in 180 minutes. It is a fast-paced test where you have roughly 90 seconds per question to choose the best agile response across seven different frameworks.

  • What score do I need to pass?
PMI does not release an official passing percentage. Generally, aiming for 70% correct in our practice exams will put you in a safe position to pass the actual test.

  • Should I take the test at home or at a center?
While online proctoring is an option, the rules are extremely strict and technical glitches can cancel your test. We strongly advise going to a Pearson VUE testing center to avoid internet or power issues.

  • What if I don't pass?
You can attempt the exam up to three times within a one-year window. If you fail, we provide additional coaching, extend your access to simulators, and help you focus on the areas where you struggled.

  • How long does the certification stay active?
It is valid for three years. To renew, you must earn 30 Professional Development Units (PDUs) during that time through learning or giving back to the community.

  • Which books should I study?
PMI recommends several guides, including the Agile Practice Guide and texts for Scrum, Kanban, and XP. However, our course synthesizes all this information into one program so you don't have to buy or read every single book.

  • How do I describe my hours in the application?
This is a common failure point. You must use PMI’s specific terminology to describe your work across various agile domains. We provide full support to help you write these descriptions correctly.

  • Is a calculator allowed?
You can use the basic calculator built into the testing software. While there are fewer math questions than on the PMP, you may need it for velocity or cycle time calculations.

  • What are the primary exam domains?
The exam is weighted across seven areas: Value-Driven Delivery (20%), Stakeholder Engagement (17%), Agile Mindset (16%), Team Performance (16%), Adaptive Planning (12%), Problem Resolution (10%), and Continuous Improvement (9%).

  • When can I book my test?
As soon as your application is approved, you have one year to schedule it. We suggest booking it for 2–3 weeks after your training ends to keep the knowledge fresh.

  • Is PMI membership required for renewal?
No, but it makes it cheaper. Members pay $60 for renewal, while non-members pay $150.

  • What counts as a PDU?
You need 30 PDUs every three years, with at least 15 coming from education (webinars, courses, etc.). The rest can come from volunteering or mentoring.

  • Does this help with other PMI certifications?
It doesn't grant waivers for other exams like the PMP, but your agile project hours can often be used to satisfy the experience requirements for those certifications as well.
